The SNAG Youth Golf Challenge will bring together youth that have participated in SNAG training and have formed a four-person team that plays regularly in Miami-Dade Parks. Each park that participated in the SNAG/JNLL training program may register a team or teams to compete at regional sites.
Each team will be coed, having at least one boy and one girl. Each four-person team will play in a 6-hole SNAG Scramble Competition at the closest regional site. The team total will be used to qualify for the Championship.
Regional competitions will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00 am (rain date July 23, 2014) with the Championship held on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 am (rain date August 13, 2014).
The three regional qualifying sites are Gwen Cherry Park, Tamiami Park, and Goulds Park. Four teams from each regional site will advance to the Championship at Tamiami Park.
The Youth Sports Championship Series, developed by the joint Round Table on Youth Safety, declared that with deliberate action and a unified voice there must be emphasis on the advancement and safety of our area youth. The plan is aimed to insure that the Miami-Dade community comes together in the long haul to develop a safe envelope around our schools and other public places where children gather.
Since 2013 the Jack Nicklaus Learning League (JNLL) powered by SNAG has been part of the Fit2Play curriculum at parks throughout Miami-Dade County. This training has introduced the game of golf to hundreds of Miami-Dade County youths which began the process of instilling values and decorum inherent in the great game of golf. These values and skills were developed during training sessions at parks in the summer camp and after school programs. Because of the fun of the sport further competitions where developed to expand the values and experience.

Rules & Format
Scramble Competition Format: Each player on the team positions themselves at the beginning of the hole (the teeing ground). One at a time, each member of the team hits one shot toward the SNAG target. The team then selects the best shot of the group. The remaining team members pick up their shot and move to the position of the best shot. This procedure continues until one of the shots sticks to the target. The number of selected shots is totaled for each hole and written on the team’s scorecard. Each hole will have only one score from the team.
The team will continue to play the remaining holes in the scramble Format. The team will add up the scores for each hole and create a total for the six holes. The low score from all of the teams for six holes is the best score in the event.
